The CFE was founded in the year 1959 and embraces 33 national organisations from 25 European States and within them over 180,000 tax advisers. We consider our functions to be to safeguard the professional interests of tax advisers and to assure the quality of tax services provided by tax advisers and to exchange information about national tax laws and to contribute to coordination respectively of tax law in Europe.

  • The Brussels Global Conference on Professional Affairs / 26 November 2008

    The CFE is organising the conference “The Tax Adviser profession: ownership and cooperation - How much regulation is needed?” on Wednesday 26 November 2008. The intention of the conference is to reflect on how regulation on the tax adviser profession are pervading the profession particularly as regards of ownership and cooperation. The Conference contains two sessions focusing upon “Risks of external ownership and regulatory responses” and “The pervasiveness of multidisciplinary regulations”“.

  • Video recordings of the CFE Forum 2008

    The video recordings of the CFE Forum 2008, which took place in Brussels on 3 April 2008, are accessible for the public.

    The morning session “The Taxpayer‘s Charter -a Model for Europe?” examined the recent thinking and debated the role that Taxpayer’s Charters can play in improving the tax systems in all countries to the benefit of revenue authorities, taxpayers and tax advisers.

    The afternoon session “VAT formalities for electronic invoicing - a challenge for Europe‘s businesses” highlighted the overall technical and legal issues as today business suffer from legal uncertainty, non-compliance with requirements and a lack of confidence in the implementation of e-Business solutions.

    The recordings are free of charge but in order to gain access it is necessary to register with DATEV.

  • CFE Meetings in Madrid

    From Thursday 25 to Saturday 27 of September 2008 the CFE meetings took place in Madrid. The technical meetings of the General Assembly, the Fiscal Committee, the Professional Affairs Committee and the Advisory Board of the Past Presidents were held at the Hotel Ritz Madrid. The Hotel provided a beautiful setting in the centre of Madrid, just next to the Prado Museum and Plaza Mayor.

    General Assembly

    During the General Assembly 4 new Associations were accepted into the CFE. The Hellenic Federation of Independent Professional Tax Consultants (P.O.F.E.E) and the Institute of Indirect Taxation (UK) as full members, and The Chamber of Tax Advisers of Russia andThe Romanian Chamber of Fiscal Consultants as observers. For the first time in the CFE history an election was held to chose the next President and the Vice-Presidents, and not a rotating system. Stephen Coleclough was elected President and Herbert Becherer, Christine Cloquet and Jiri Nekovar were elected Vice-Presidents.

    Welcome Reception

    The two hosting Member Organisations, the Asocoación Española de Asesores Fiscales (AEDAF) and the Registro de Economistas de Asesores Fiscales (REAF) organized a very impressive opening reception on Thursday evening in the Casino de Madrid, where the CFE President Maria Lourdes Perez Luque welcomed all the CFE delegates to Madrid.

    The Casino de Madrid began in 1836 and the name ‘Casino’, used for the first time in Spain, was chosen instead of society or club “to distance the centre from any political connotation”. The present building was created in 1910 and was declared a monument of Cultural Interest in 1993.

    Gala Dinner at La Bolsa

    The CFE Gala Dinner was held at La Bolsa de Madrid Friday evening. Contrary to the latest negative reports from the international stock markets, the CFE Gala Dinner at the bourse of Madrid was a very positive and cheerful event!

    The wonderful dinner was served in the Great Hall of La bolsa de Madrid, which is an extraordinary building officially founded in 1831. The dinner was accompanied with beautiful music and inspiriting speeches by the present CFE President Maria Lourdes Perez-Luque and the future CFE President Stephen Coleclough.
